Calibre Fitness began with a simple idea, to look after people.

At Calibre Fitness, we take group training sessions that combine strength, cardio, and conditioning, designed for all ability levels. Every member has their sessions planned and coached by us, so all they need to do is turn up and bring their water. We guide progress in strength and fitness, offer advice and education on nutrition, and focus on helping people feel better inside and out. Our aim is to make fitness simple, enjoyable, and sustainable for everyone.
We also have a small and friendly gym-only area with 24/7 access, which comes with member check-ins and nutritional support.

Back in March 2019 (ish), Anna and I started running fitness sessions for ex-veterans at the Royal British Legion in Christchurch. At the time, we were both working in different gyms, but we knew we wanted to create something of our own, a place where everyone felt welcome, supported, and part of something bigger.
With the incredible support of Andrew, the chairman of the Royal British Legion, we were given the opportunity to start from that very building. We did not have much, just an old exercise bike, a couple of kettlebells, and some battle ropes, but we had passion, purpose, and a drive to make a difference.

In October 2019, we opened up our sessions to the public for the first time, welcoming anyone who wanted to improve their fitness in a friendly and supportive environment.

By December 2019, we had outgrown that first space and moved into our own small unit in Christchurch. From day one, our focus was never just fitness. It was about helping people physically, mentally, and nutritionally. We offered guidance rather than strict plans because our goal was always to help people understand how to look after their own health long term.

Then came March 2020, and like everyone, we faced the challenge of COVID. We took our sessions online, running group workouts on Zoom to keep our community moving and connected. When the world started to reopen, we brought everyone back safely, one step at a time, and continued to grow stronger together.

As our community grew, we moved again, this time to Silver Business Park, where we built the home that Calibre Fitness has today. Our great friend Russ from RH Sports Therapy joined us, helping us set up the space and continuing to run his successful business alongside ours.

Now, a few years on, we have grown into a thriving community of awesome members with 11 amazing coaches.
Together, we have hopefully created a space where people feel comfortable, confident, and genuinely cared for.
We have tried to stay true to our roots, offering a welcoming environment where everything is planned for you, your workouts, your progress, and your support every step of the way.

Our intention was never to grow. This growth has forced us to learn and navigate new challenges, but we love doing it because the more it grows, the more people it helps.

We are also proud to give back to the community that supported us from the beginning. Each year, we do our best to promote and support local events such as Remembrance Day marches and other local causes that mean a great deal to us.
We are incredibly proud that we were recently awarded Gym of the Year 2025 by the Bournemouth Daily Echo.

From a few kettlebells in a hall to a full community at Silver Business Park, what a journey it has been.

We are more than a gym. We are a community of people who care about health, about growth, and about each other.
This is our story, and we are grateful for every coach, every member, and every person who has supported us from day one.
